About Chaimantec Prep

What can I use Chaimantec Prep for?

Chaimantec Prep helps you practice exam-style questions, get AI-assisted feedback, and build your own question sets with mark schemes. You can use built-in sets, imported sets, or sets you create yourself.

Can I use Chaimantec Prep without an account?

Yes. Use Offline Sets to create, import, edit, and practice question sets directly on your device. Offline Sets are stored in your browser, so they are useful for private practice and local workflows. Multiple-choice scoring works locally. AI features for guest offline use require your own provider API key.

Open Offline Sets

Is Chaimantec Prep ready for public use?

We do not currently have plans to open the online app to the public. The offline workflow is available now for creating and practicing with local question sets, including question sets generated from past-paper PDFs.

Offline Sets

What are Offline Sets?

Offline Sets are question sets stored locally in your browser. They do not require a login, and the set data stays on your device unless you export it, share it, or use an AI feature that sends the relevant prompt content to your selected AI provider.

How do I create my own offline question set?

Open the offline authoring tool, add your questions and mark schemes, then save the set locally. You can also import a generated JSON file from the past-paper PDF workflow.

Create Your Own Question Set

Can I import past paper PDFs?

Yes. Download the PDF-to-question-set skill, use an AI coding agent to convert a question paper and mark scheme into an import JSON, then import that JSON into Offline Sets.

Can offline guest users use AI grading and chat?

Yes, if you add your own AI key in Offline AI Settings. Choose a supported provider, enter the key, then select or type a model. OpenAI, Gemini, and DeepSeek use curated model choices. OpenRouter uses a text box because its model catalog is large and changes often.

Features & Capabilities

Can I create my own question sets?

Yes! Chaimantec Prep allows you to create custom question sets with their own mark schemes. You can add images, format text, and structure questions according to your needs. This is perfect for teachers preparing material for their students or students creating practice sets for specific topics.

Create Your Own Question Set

How can I share question sets with others?

You can export your question sets as JSON files (including any uploaded images) and share them with other Chaimantec Prep users. Recipients can import these files into their account to access your questions. This makes it easy to collaborate with classmates or distribute practice materials.

What about copyright when sharing content?

When creating and sharing question sets, it's important to respect copyright laws. Only share content that you have created yourself, that is in the public domain, or that you have permission to distribute. Do not copy questions directly from published textbooks, past papers, or other copyrighted sources without proper permission. If you're a teacher sharing with your students or using content for educational purposes, make sure you comply with fair use or educational exemptions applicable in your region.

What subjects does Chaimantec Prep support?

Chaimantec Prep is designed to be flexible and can handle questions from virtually any subject. Our AI grading works particularly well for subjects with structured answers like sciences, humanities, languages, and mathematics. The effectiveness of AI grading may vary depending on the complexity and subjectivity of the questions.

Which AI providers can I use with my own key?

Offline guest AI settings currently support OpenAI, OpenRouter, Gemini, and DeepSeek. The provider determines the API endpoint internally, so you do not need to enter a base URL. Models that support image input are marked with an image icon when we can identify that capability.

Data & Privacy

Where is my data stored?

Chaimantec Prep offers both online and offline storage options. In offline mode, question sets, answers, progress, and encrypted offline AI settings are stored locally in your browser. Local data is not available on other devices unless you export and import it yourself.

What happens to my data in offline mode?

In offline mode, your data is saved in your browser's local storage. This means if you clear your browser data or switch to a different device, you won't have access to your previously created content. We recommend regularly exporting important question sets as a backup.

Does Chaimantec Prep store my offline AI API key?

No. For guest offline AI settings, your API key is encrypted in browser local storage using a passphrase-derived key. The passphrase is never stored. When you unlock the key, the decrypted key is kept only in memory for the current browser tab until you lock it, clear settings, or reload.

What is sent when I use offline AI features?

When an offline guest uses AI grading, model-answer generation, chat, import conversion, or topic classification, Chaimantec Prep sends the relevant question, answer, mark scheme, chat, or import text to the selected AI provider through a server-side proxy. The API key is forwarded for that request but is not stored by Chaimantec Prep.

Is my data secure?

We take data security seriously, but browser-based API keys have limits. Encrypting the key protects it at rest in local storage, but browser code, malicious extensions, or an XSS vulnerability could access the key while it is unlocked. Use a restricted provider key when possible, and review the privacy policy of the AI provider you choose.
